Mini Assignment #1 – Rule of Thirds

A snowy day always brings photo opportunities once I get myself out of the house. So yesterday I took the following picture.

For whatever reason I, and I believe, many others tend to center the key component of our images. It is something I continually fight against.  Well thanks to the digital world I am able to check my photo. As a result I took the following image where I moved the central element of the original image to the lower corner.

I think it makes a more interesting image. Let me know what you think

TRIO

This photo was taken at the Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Delray Beach, FL over the holidays. These turtles seemed to be quite content even though there was an alligator not too far away!

Arc

This picture was taken in Fort Lauderdale. I liked the repeating pattern of the arches.

Bold

Two things come to mind when I think of bold – Someone with a lot of nerve or chutzpah and bright colors. I opted for bright colors.

Chaos

My teenage son suggested this for Chaos. We like to say that this was just about in real-time! I used a tutorial in Photoshop Elements Techniques Magazine by Johnny Vera.

Cold

This was taken the other morning at a local park. It as about 8:00 am. The temperature was in the low 20s. When I was through taking pictures, my hands were so cold that I can still “feel” that cold now.

This was shot in RAW with minimal post processing in Elements 7.

Pink

One of the reasons, albeit a big one, we went to Florida – our granddaughter. She is a lot of fun and, I do believe, thinks her grandmother’s face is a Nikon camera!

This is what I think of when I think of pink.  Several friends are breast cancer survivors. Whenever I have the chance to support breast cancer research I do.  Some of the proceeds from the calendar go to research.
